Diageo USVI (‘DUSVI’) has made a pledge to make a contribution in the amount of $15,000 as part of its partnership with the VI Energy Office and a nonprofit fund administrator. This contribution is designated for use as a matching fund in the Virgin Islands Energy Office’s campaign to support energy efficiency improvements and savings for low-income residents, as outlined below:
Role of Diageo USVI: The contribution from DUSVI will be used as a matching fund, where for every $500 raised from individual contributors, DUSVI will match $500 up to $15,000. (The VI Office of Energy will also seek additional corporate contributions, which will not be eligible for matching by Diageo USVI.)
Role of V.I. Energy Office: The Energy Office will develop and execute a promotional plan, including, but not limited to media advisories, press releases, press conferences, Facebook announcements and e-newsletter coverage. Promotional materials will include reference to Diageo USVI as a major donor and DUSVI will participate as appropriate in promotional events. The Energy Office will work with CFVI to carry out weatherization via appropriate contractors for families selected for support. The Energy Office will provide a quarterly campaign report including a summary of fundraising and completed weatherization efforts.
Role of Non-Profit: A non-profit organization will be chosen to administer the fund designated for the Energize our Neighbors campaign, waiving all applicable administrative fees. The nonprofit will use [and adhere to] Energy Office guidelines to select families for energy efficiency upgrades. The nonprofit will also assist with promotions and advertising efforts, providing ongoing outreach in pursuit of additional corporate contributions as well as private donations to support the campaign. We are looking forward to successful corporate giving campaign and the much-needed relief for our resident who are facing severe home energy use challenges.
