The Virgin Islands Energy Office (VIEO) is pleased to announce a 2-day energy conservation/operations & maintenance training for government and building industry professionals that will be offered in both districts. The customized training will be facilitated by Southface Energy Institute (SEI) and will address best energy practices in public and private facilities. All topics will be presented by a Certified Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) Master Trainer and Project Manager.
Trainings will be held in each respective district on:
- St. Thomas, July 17-18 – @ University of the Virgin Islands
- St. Croix, July 20-21 – @ Department of Education – Curriculum Center
The training will include information on HVAC, lighting efficiency standards, preliminary energy audits, consumption data monitoring, water heating efficiency, and other related topics.
Participants that attend the entire course will be eligible for a Certificate of Completion. Successful participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the performance of whole-building energy assessments and the ability to develop energy efficiency solutions for the health and safety of a building and its occupants.
All invited or interested participants are encouraged to confirm their attendance no later than July 11, 2017. Space is limited to 30 attendees per district. An application fee of $30 will be collected from each applicant on or before the first day of training. Limited grant funding is available for hardship cases.
